Hi Joey, thanks for your message! :) I know, you're so right, I really should have let them x-ray me, but I'm a little stubborn and like to take care of myself far too often. If it hadn't come down to me crawling on my knees from room to room to avoid the pain in my foot, I probably wouldn't have gone in at all, lol. But I have to be careful, because being HIV+ and having a low immune system, the simplest of infections can quickly grow into a life-threatening one for me. But anyway, maybe I'll get my new doctor to x-ray my foot, just so I'll have a new picture to post on here, lol. He already wants a photo print of the snake tooth I pulled out, the picture I posted on my blog here, so he can put it on the wall above his desk, lol. He always makes me smile and laugh when I go in there, so I'm very grateful I have yet another in a long line of amazing, amazing doctors.

And no, don't worry, my foot looks back to normal now. When I pulled the tooth out, it left a big gaping hole in my foot that I could hardly believe. The ONLY gaping hole anywhere on me, by the way. ;) But no, my foot is fine now, and it was a worthwhile price to pay for a good story, lol.

ian --- they should've x-rayed your foot at least when you noted it was getting worse. the outcome here could've been much more serious. i'm a podiatrist by profession, so i should know. the tooth does look like it has a venom opening that might imply it was a snake fang - yuk! and you have really great looking feet - hope this injury didn't ruin their appearance...lol!

Because I figure it would be best to reply about your joke (?) about you going so many times to the hospital only by e-mail, I won't go there here! lol
Lets just say that I am thrilled you are lucky enough to have found a doctor that actually seems to care about his patient! But then again, if you were MY patient, I sure would care too!!! lol

Ummm actually no, there wasn't an x-ray was done on my foot although we all considered it. But it was such a thin part of the end of my foot, and we looked as deep as we could in the hole and didn't see anything, and feeling around couldn't feel anything. So I figured it was just the sharp piece of driftwood that stabbed me and pulled out. I always love when they pull out at the last second! And yet... a week later I giant snake tooth pops out, lol. Or as my friend Ed said, the fang of a deadly Cleopatra viper trying to kill me on the beach. OK it wasn't quite like that, but I do love a life a little more operatic in style, so it works for me, lol.

But now I have a new doctor, a wonderful, wonderful new doctor since my old one, who was also incredible, just moved to Ontario at the end of the summer. :( But my new doctor said as I was sitting the chair getting my IV plugged in to kickstart the anti-biotics, that if I had a bad reaction and accidentally died while in that chair, he would just call... "the cleaners" (said with a forceful whisper), to have a wall built around me and claim I had never even shown up that day. He's such a sweety and makes me laugh so much, but at the same time is already taking such good care of me. In fact the only reason I found him and am with him now permanently is because I hurt my foot, he was the only doctor on call that day for walk-ins, and he helped me then, and then again with someone else today, and I realized he was the doctor for me. If you're going to spend as much time in the hospital as I do, you better have a great, great doctor, who takes excellent care of you but also is a joy to visit and leaves you with a smile when you're on your way out. :) And that's what my new doctor does, so I'm almost looking forward to the next time I get injured, lol.

Yeah I'm going to bring in the tooth next time I see them. I'm sure they'll be surprised! :) Although they did say the fact that nothing was visible didn't mean there wasn't anything inside, it's just that we couldn't see it. But now we know.

I suggest you show it to the doctor and nurses! Remind them about the fact they couldn't see it.

It does look like a snake's tooth. It's definitely possible one of those snakes bit you and it's tooth broke off in your foot.
