Ian Duncan at Oka Beach 2009It was a holiday here last Monday and Lukas Wild had asked me if I wanted to go spend the day with him at Oka Beach. I hadn’t been to a beach in about ten years so I was thrilled to go there with him. I really prefer not having a car here downtown, since it’s a big expense and a major pain to have one, but at the same time, it keeps me from getting to some really nice places around here, which I’m really missing out on. But Lukas drives everywhere he goes, even for his work since he’s a truck driver. So with us in his car, it was no trouble to drive 40 minutes to Oka.

I had heard about his place for years from our models who would go hang out there in the summertime. And the gay part of the beach and the nude area were kind of famous too, but it wasn’t at all what I expected when I finally got there. The nude part of Oka Beach is enormous, it must be well over a kilometre long of nude people and beautiful, sandy beach. I always imagined it being a small secluded part of the beach with maybe 20 nude people at the most. But there were hundreds and hundreds of nude people or all ages and sizes. And even though everyone was naked, there was nothing sexual about it at all. It just seemed . . . natural. Just everyone sitting around chatting, sun bathing, swimming, playing volleyball, hanging out on their boats, having picnics, and going for walks. Just doing every day things, but completely naked. I’m so used to seeing super hot strippers and pornstars naked all the time, so it was a bit of an eye opener for me to see normal, every day people in the nude. Lukas Wild at Oka Beach 2009But it was really, really wonderful to see that. I loved how everyone was so relaxed and confident, no matter what their appearance was. And the people in bathing suits from the other part of the beach didn’t care either, as they’d pass by the nude area, like it was nothing interesting. And really, it isn’t anything interesting after the first few minutes. To me it feels like that’s how people should be all the time. I think the world would be a much, much better place, and less sexually violent and repressed if people lived their lives in the nude. I would have loved to have made a little video of all of this but I didn’t want to be parading through pointing my camera at people, so you’ll just have to go visit it for yourself one day next time you’re in Montreal. And if you do, go nude, you just might love it! :)

Now, while the general nude part of the beach was very, very nice, the gay part was easily the ugliest part of the beach, with about 2 feet of sand between the water and the endless maze of giant trees that had fallen over, right out of the ground, roots and all. But after walking though it, I could see why the gay men like this area, since they can use the big roots as cover for having sex. We walked by one batch of fallen trees and I turned back to see two hugely chubby guys getting it on very quietly, like it was nothing. One of them had his arms spread out on the roots like it was a big armchair, with his face in the sun, while the other guy sucked away at him down below. And they didn’t seem to mind us passing by. And anyway, why should they, it’s just sex.

Oka Beach 2009But it was while passing through this area that I stepped on a sharp piece of wood sticking out of the sand at the water’s edge, and it went very deep into my foot. OMFG it hurt so much! But it was a nice addition to the blisters I already had under my toes from walking on the scorching hot sand for about an hour. Oh, did I mention I twisted my knee too? Lol apparently I’m not as sturdy as I used to be. Lukas was fine though, which is odd, since he drives everywhere he goes, and I walk everywhere every day. But anyway, to fast forward a bit, whatever went up my foot caused it to become majorly infected, and it’s now swollen up like a tomatoe and I haven’t been able to walk on it. I got a tetanus shot and am taking anti-biotics now to help it, but it’s going to be a few days before it gets better. For the first 2 days I was crawling on the floor to get from room to room at home because I couldn’t use my foot. Then I upgraded to a makeshift wheelchair using an office chair on wheels I would use to go from room to room, which I actually enjoyed a lot, lol. Especially as my dog barked and tried to bite the chair wheels as I scooted around. But aside from the blisters that peeled the skin off from under my toes, the twisted knee and the infected, swollen foot that looks like a giant balloon from the Macy’s Day Parade, I actually had an amazing time at the beach with Lukas.

Like I said, it was the first time I’d been to a beach in ten years, and swimming every day at my cottage during the summers when I was a kid is one of the things I miss most in my life. I miss it so much that I even have a little sound machine in my bedroom that plays wave sounds to remind me of being there when I go to bed. It reminds me of lying in the most comfortable bed in the world at my cottage at night (the same bed my father slept in there as a kid), with the window open, listening to the crickets outside and the waves of Lake Erie gently washing up at the shore a few feet away. For me, that was the most beautiful place in the entire world. So to be able to walk in the sand, swim in the lake, and lie in the sun again was a dream come true. And for me, it’s really simple things like this that I enjoy and look forward to the most. :)

P.S. I accidentally wrote on the video title that it was August 2009, when it was actually Monday, September 7th. So sorry about that, it must have been the sunstroke affecting my brain.  :P

It would’ve been nice to see you strutting your stuff in the nude section of the beach Ian… you’re a beautiful man, don’t hide it with baggy swim shorts.

Hey thanks a lot Derek! Well we were tempted to, but we didn’t want any cool winds making us shrink, lol. Maybe the constant pressure to be hard at all times on screen is still ingrained in our heads. :P
