Ian Duncan in Mexico CityI’m finally back from my trip to Mexico City this week, and I have to say I had the best time i could have hoped for. It was so much fun, exciting, and beautiful everywhere I went. I got to visit my friend Edgar and his boyfriend that I hadn’t seen in probably 7 years, maybe 8. I stayed at their nice place there so it was a good way to hang out and spend some time together. But during the days while they worked, I’d go off on my own to see all the things I’d been anxious to visit.

Hmmm let’s see, where did I go… the Chapultapec Zoo, lol, going up the Torre Latino Americana for a panoramic view of the entire valley of Mexico City, going to the Templo Mayor (which was the center of the extremely impressive original city that the Spanish Conquistadors destroyed) and where I was very closely followed by two sexy gay boys who were a couple that kept rubbing up against me, watching military parades, doing some shopping, meeting amazing new friends, checking out the art displays on the Paseo de la Reforma with my sexy new friend Benjamin, going to a gay club to dance all night with my new friend Enrique, going to Frida Kahlo’s house, taking a tour of the Universidad Nacional Autonomica de Mexico, where my friend works so I could check out his job but also see all the incredible (and HUGE) 3D Diego Rivera murals on some of the buildings there.

Plus all the eating I did! Let’s not forget that. Tacos of all kinds every day, that were all out of this world. It’s really not the kind of thing you can get in the USA or Canada. It’s sooooo much better there, and I couldn’t get enough. Especially since it was like $2 Canadian for a whole plate. And surprisingly I had absolutely no digestion problems of any kind. Even now that I’m back home, I still feel fine so I guess I got lucky.

But overall my trip was so fantastic that I’m already planning to go back in December or January with 3 of my best friends. Although what made it easy for me to go this time, since as you know I’m not exactly rolling in money these days, was the fact that I had accumulated enough travel points to do the trip for free. Well, not quite free, it actually was $4 more than I had on my travel points, so the travel agency charged me $4 for the trip, lol. But hey, I decided to splurge and pamper myself by spending the $4 for my once-every-3-years week off, lol. And I’m so glad I did, I really needed that getaway to recharge my batteries and refresh my mind, and basically just to have fun. So I can’t wait to go back again!  :)

P.S. Here’s a video of me sneaking a recording in Frida Kahlo’s bathroom, since absolutely no photos or video were allowed in her house. It was the best I could do to remember my time there, lol

Hope your vacation was absolutely amazing. I commented you on facebook, let me know if I should swing by the lovely Montreal sometime ;)

Hey thanks, yeah I had a really great time in Mexico! Not bad for a trip that cost me $4, lol. Well if you’re going to visit Montreal, be sure to do it before the winter unless you like not being able to feel your face when you walk outside. ;)

I am an old admirer from years ago who just discovered your blog. I remember well your visit to Cuilapan Monastery outside Oxaca circa 1997 since I was also exploring Mexico every summer at that time. Do you remember sending me your undies from your 21th birthday party and marking the package “children’s clothing”? LOL More importantly, your look so good in this picture of you on the leopard and so sexy in the video that I can’t understand why you feel too old to appear in videos anymore. I will miss you badly.

Hi Bob! Wow you have a great memory to remember all that. Actually I think I do remember the “children’s clothing” package, lol. :P If you want any more just let me know, lol. And actually my trip to Mexico in 1997 was the last time I had been there, so I was very excited to go back again and see my friends and visit some familiar faces. And I had a wonderful time there. Are you still exploring Mexico during your summers?

Hi, Ian. I haven’t returned to Mexico since 2000. After not having suffered Montezuma’s Revenge in all the years I travelled there, I caught it so bad that year I thought I would die. The memory of that awful sickness plus the increasingly frequent reports about drug lords, murders, and beheadings has deterred me from returning. Now…..about my proposal that you keep performing……..please don’t disappoint me…….and oh, yes!…..send all the “childrens’ clothes” you want to. LOL.
